The story

A meaningful incentive at a critical time of year.

The Thunder partnered with Our Blood Institute during the holiday period, when blood donations often decline even though hospitals still depend on a steady supply. Fans who donated received a Thunder ticket incentive, connecting community action with a future game experience.

Community came first

The promotion used the power of Thunder fandom to encourage donations during a time when donor participation can be harder to sustain. The ticket reward helped make giving feel timely, tangible, and connected to the local community.

The experience continued after the donation

When donors redeemed their earned ticket through Spinzo, they could add tickets for friends and family or choose an upgraded paid seating zone—turning a complimentary ticket into a larger shared game experience.

Results

Community participation created measurable ticketing value.

The strongest part of the story is not simply how many tickets were distributed—it is what fans did once they entered the redemption flow.

1,236
Total tickets distributed through the promotion
816
Tickets earned by fans who donated blood
420
Additional tickets purchased beyond earned tickets
$22,141
Ticket revenue generated through the program
594 total orders. In 341 of them, fans either added tickets during the purchase process or selected an upgraded non-free seating zone.
How it worked

A simple path from donation to game day.

Spinzo supported the mission by making the redemption experience easy for donors while preserving opportunities for incremental paid engagement.

1

Donate

Fans supported local patients by participating in the Thunder Holiday Blood Drive with Our Blood Institute.

2

Redeem

Eligible donors used the ticket offer to select their game experience through a streamlined Spinzo redemption flow.

3

Build the outing

Fans could purchase additional seats or move into a paid seating zone—making it easy to bring others or upgrade the experience.

57%

of orders generated incremental paid activity

341 of 594 orders included either an additional ticket purchase or an upgrade to a paid seating zone. That is the clearest proof that a complimentary ticket can be the beginning of the transaction—not the end.

The bigger win

Doing good and driving results can work together.

The promotion succeeded because the commercial outcome never replaced the community purpose. Blood donations remained the reason for the campaign. Ticketing technology simply helped extend the experience once donors had already taken part.

816 earned tickets helped recognize donors. 420 additional tickets expanded the game experience. $22,141 in revenue demonstrated the business value of making redemption flexible.
The takeaway

A ticket incentive can create impact beyond the seat.

When community programs are paired with thoughtful redemption technology, teams can reward meaningful action, welcome new or expanded groups of fans, and generate incremental revenue without losing sight of the mission.

  • Community mission stays at the center
  • Redemption is simple for the donor
  • Fans can add seats or upgrade naturally
  • Teams can measure incremental value
